Guest Accommodations and
                Rates

All bedrooms at Newboro House are furnished with comfortable contemporary furniture, luxurious Kingsdown pillow-top mattresses, and high thread count sheets and plush terry towels made of whisper-soft Egyptian cotton. Our microfibre pillows and blankets are all feather-light, warm, and non-allergenic.

Complimentary 100% cotton shawl-collar robes are also provided for guest use. A clock-radio/CD player with dual alarm is available in each room. Hairdryers are available in the main bathrooms.

The guest sitting room holds a television with satellite hook-up, a selection of games and puzzles, and an eclectic library of fiction and nonfiction books. In the breakfast room, a microwave oven and mini-fridge are available for guest use.

Guests are also welcome to enjoy the Newboro House gardens and grounds.

Prices, Reservations, and Long-Stay Discounts

Prices quoted below include single or double occupancy of each room booked, all applicable taxes, and a full breakfast that past guests have called “decadent.” There is no additional charge for a child 10 years of age or younger sharing a parent’s room.

Regular room night $99
3-Weeknight stay (Sun. through Thurs.) $249
5-Night stay (unrestricted) $399
7-Night stay (unrestricted) $499
“Whole-house” weekend $269

Reservations well in advance are strongly recommended for popular summer weekends and for social events such as weddings and family reunions. Rooms for those dates tend to disappear very quickly throughout the local region. Reservations at Newboro House are also a “must” from 1 October through Victoria Day weekend in May. Because the B&B spaces are devoted solely to guest use, in the winter they are heated only enough to keep pipes from freezing. It takes at least 12 hours to bring the house and its furnishings to a comfortable temperature for guest occupancy. We cannot, therefore, accommodate anyone with less than 24 hours’ notice in winter.

Deposit and Cancellation Policies

A valid credit card is required to hold each room reserved. Reservation cancellations are accepted at any time, but for each room cancelled with less than 72 hours’ notice (that is, after 16h00 three days before the anticipated day of arrival), the full room fee (and any costs already incurred for reserved meals other than breakfast) will be charged to the credit card used to secure the booking.

The Mitchell Room

Click for larger image

This large, second-floor room was the original master bedroom where Father, after a hard day’s work, and Mother, after an even harder day, sought refuge. A wedding-ring quilt echoes that heritage, but covers a modern queen-sized bed. A cot stored in the ample closet can be set up at the foot of the bed to accommodate a young child. The Mitchell room shares a four-piece bathroom with the Kilborn Room on the same floor.

The Kilborn Room

The Kilborn room is where the boys in the family would have slept. While the master bedroom had only a floor grill opening to the living room below for heat, the boys’ bedroom had a stove pipe traversing it. (The room occupied by the girls, now a bathroom, had no direct heat.) The boys had to get up before the girls and shovel coal into the furnace before heading off to their other pre-breakfast chores. Today the room is fitted with an ensuite two-piece bathroom and twin beds covered with modern patchwork quilts. For showering and bathing, the Kilborn room shares a four-piece bathroom with the Mitchell room.

The Gallagher Room

The Gallagher room, like all of the other rooms in Newboro House, retains its original wood mouldings and door hardware. Originally the study, the Gallagher room now features a queen-sized pier bed and a three-piece ensuite bathroom. Its large window overlooks the side garden. The room’s location (just off the breakfast room on the main floor) and its self-contained bathroom provide enhanced privacy for couples looking for a quiet getaway.

Smoking and Pets

Please note that our insurance coverage requires us to maintain a strict policy prohibiting smoking and the use of open flames (for example, candles) in the house. Any guest who violates this policy will be asked to leave, and no refund will be made.

For your comfort, our pet Burmese cats, Cass and Andi, are not permitted in guest areas. For their comfort, we regret that we cannot accommodate guest pets indoors. However, if your pet is used to being housed in your car or van, we can provide a level, shaded parking area. And our back lawn provides plenty of room for a romp; we simply request that you stoop, scoop, and appropriately dispose of your pet’s waste.
